SafeHouse Explorer is a freely-distributable companion application to SafeHouse which is often useful for working with SafeHouse volumes stored on USB memory sticks.
One of the primary benefits of SafeHouse Explorer is that it can be run as a stand-alone EXE. It does not need to be installed in the traditional sense. Simply copy the SafeHouseExplorer.exe file to your memory stick and run it directly. Although SafeHouse Explorer contains only a subset of the features found in SafeHouse Professional Edition, the zero-install feature comes in handy when working on other computers which do not or can not have SafeHouse installed onto them.
Normally, SafeHouse Explorer is downloaded separately from SafeHouseSoftware.com. However, for corporate deployments, this wizard has the ability to use an existing copy of the software and embed it into your customized installer. To take advantage of this feature, you must have already downloaded and installed a copy of SafeHouse Explorer onto this same PC.
There's only one important file, SafeHouseExplorer.exe. This is the only file which will be packaged into your setup program. The resulting installer will write this SafeHouse Explorer application file to the main SafeHouse program folder and create a menu shortcut for it.
If your custom setup program includes support for resetting passwords, the copy of the SafeHouse Explorer application added to your installer will automatically be branded to match the SafeHouse group specified on the prior wizard page. This means that any new volumes created using that copy of SafeHouse Explorer will automatically support password resets in the same manner as any other SafeHouse volumes.
Please note that SafeHouse Explorer itself does not include the administration tools needed to reset passwords. You'll need to use your copy of SafeHouse Professional Edition to perform local and remote password resets on volumes created with SafeHouse Explorer.
If you are distributing a branded version of SafeHouse Explorer as just described, please be sure to note the license restrictions below.
If you have not configured SafeHouse to support resetting passwords, then the copy of SafeHouse Explorer included with your installer will be identical to the original file (not branded) and the license restrictions indicated below do not apply.
Branded copies of SafeHouse Explorer are not freely distributable. Only the original unmodified SafeHouse Explorer downloads are free and freely distributable.
Our license agreement requires that each user of a branded copy of SafeHouse Explorer has a license to use SafeHouse Professional Edition. For example, if your company wishes to provide memory sticks to 100 employees which each contain a branded copy of SafeHouse Explorer, then you must purchase a license for 100 copies of SafeHouse Professional Edition to be installed onto these employees' primary computers. As long as the licenses are purchased, whether or not you actually install the Professional Edition on these machines is completely up to you.
The intent of this license provision is that we are providing the tools and a pathway for licensed users of our Professional Edition to use SafeHouse Explorer with the same volume administration benefits as are available with our core SafeHouse software.
Check this box to include a copy of SafeHouse Explorer in your customized setup program. You will then be required to enter the filepath to the file to copy in the field below.
Enter the location of the SafeHouse Explorer application file (SafeHouseExplorer.exe) which should be packaged up into your installer.
SafeHouse Explorer is a separate download from SafeHouseSoftware.com. It is not included with the core set of SafeHouse files. If you don't already have a copy of this companion software on your machine, you'll need to download and install it to obtain the SafeHouseExplorer.exe file needed to be referenced here.
You'll typically find this file at this location: C:\Program Files\SafeHouse Explorer\SafeHouseExplorer.exe
